Emirate countries are growing at jet speed. Those countries are implementing the development plan keeping the target. In that regard, the world’s largest water theme park is under construction in Saudi Arabia. Covering an area of 25 lakh square feet, Aquarebia Water Theme Park is being constructed near the newly built Qediya Cosmopolitan City in Saudi Arabia.
When completed, Aquarebia Theme Park will be the first water theme park in Saudi Arabia and the largest in the world. The theme park was scheduled to be completed sooner rather than later. However, the country’s authorities have announced the opening of this new and bigger theme park next year.
Aquarebia is part of the under-construction state-of-the-art Gediya city complex, located in the Duwaik Mountains, 25 miles from Saudi Arabia’s capital city of Riyadh. The new entertainment complex is part of the Saudi Arabia Vision 2030 plan designed and implemented by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman with the aim of expanding the country’s economy into non-oil sectors.
Spread over an area of 2.5 lakh square feet, Aquarebia Water Theme Park comprises of 22 rides, including the world’s tallest water coaster and water slide, and is set to have a host of fun and adventure rides.
Aquarebia’s Extreme Watersports Zone has facilities for extreme sports like rafting, kayaking, canyoneering, solo climbing and cliff jumping. Aquarebia is a 40-minute drive from the capital Riyadh and all major international airports in Saudi Arabia.
The new amusement park is being built in partnership with Aquarebia, part of the city of Gideia, featuring the world’s tallest, fastest and longest rollercoaster and a Formula One race track.
The complex is being built on the world’s first Dragon Ball theme park dedicated to the popular anime series. Officials have released drone camera footage of the planned urban Kediya campus, which includes Aquarebia Water Park, Six Flags Park, Dragon Ball Theme Park and a Formula One race track.
Although the cost of the park’s construction has not been disclosed, real estate consultancy Knight Frank Kethia estimates that the massive theme park construction project will cost around $9.8 billion. Like other Saudi mega projects currently under construction, the park is funded by the country’s sovereign wealth fund.
Construction of the Saudi water park began in 2019, with the first phase slated to open by 2023. But due to crises including Covid, the work could not be completed in 2023. Aquarebia and Six Flags Amusement Park are currently slated for completion in 2025. Khedia City is one of the many mega projects currently underway across Saudi Arabia.
