The petition is listed for hearing on Monday before a First Division Bench comprising Acting Chief Justice R. Mahadevan and Justice Mohammad Shafiq. Advocate M.L. Ravi had filed a case demanding that the Chennai and Madurai Metropolitan Police Commissioners also be directed to register a First Information Report (FIR) against the women protesters and their instigators.
Chavku Sankara was arrested by the Cybercrime Police of Kobayashi in late May 2024 for allegedly defaming police officials, especially female constables.
A case was registered against him under 5 sections. It is also worth noting that the Theni police filed a case against 3 persons including Chavku Shankar for possession of ganja during the arrest.
