Congress Review:

After the Prime Minister’s speech, there were sharp differences among the opposition parties. There were strong criticisms that the Prime Minister was promoting a campaign of religious hatred. In this case, Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge posted on his X Samuha website page that what Modi spoke was not just hate speech.

A ploy to divert people religiously. The Prime Minister tells various baseless lies for the position. Congress always talks about equality for all. It talks about justice for all. Kharge criticized India’s Prime Minister Modi saying that no other Prime Minister has reduced the dignity of the Prime Ministership to such an extent.

BJP’s response:

Following this criticism by the Congress party, the BJP posted a short video clip of the then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s speech during the Congress regime in 2006 on its official social media page.

In that, we (Congress) must come up with innovative programs to ensure that the Muslim minorities are empowered to share equally in the benefits of the nation’s development. The BJP countered by saying that they should also have rights over our resources.

Manmohan Singh spoke in December 2006:

In December 2006, the then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said in full: “We believe that we have prioritized and clearly planned programs for the development of SCs/STs and OBCs in various aspects such as agriculture, irrigation and water resources, health, education, rural infrastructure and the essential public needs of public infrastructure.”

But we (Congress) have to come up with innovative schemes to ensure that reservation is equitable in the benefits of development for minorities, women and children, especially the Muslim minority. They should also have rights over the resources of our country.

NDTV newspaper mentioned that the then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had said in 2006 that we have countless responsibilities for this.
