Chennai: Former DGP Rajesh Das, who was arrested this morning on a complaint filed by Beela Venkatesan, has been granted bail by a Tiruppurur court after he suffered chest pain.
Former Special DGP Rajesh Das was lodged a complaint by his ex-wife Beela Venkatesan at Kelambakkam Police Station in Chengalpattu District on the 20th. In the complaint, Rajesh Das had come to his farm house in Taiyur on the 18th, assaulted the guard, trespassed and took away some items.
In the name of this complaint, a case was registered under 5 sections at the Kelambakkam police station. Following this today Kelampakkam police officers arrested Rajesh Das. He was interrogated for about 4 hours at Kelambakkam police station today. After this investigation, he was produced in the Tiruperur court.
It is said that Rajesh Das, who was produced in the Tiruperur court, suddenly developed chest pain. He was immediately taken out for medical treatment. Rajesh Das has now been released on court bail.
Rajesh Das, who was previously Special DGP in 2021, was sentenced to 3 years in jail by the Chennai Villupuram Court on a complaint that he had sexually harassed a female SP. Rajesh Das has now received an interim stay from this sentence as per the order of the Supreme Court. In the wake of the rape case against Rajesh Das, his wife and senior IAS officer Beela Venkatesan has filed for divorce.
