A lawyer named Udayakumar was hacked to death by a four-member gang near Chettipalayam in Coimbatore yesterday.
Lawyer Udayakumar murdered
Udayakumar (age 48) hails from Saravanampatti area of Coimbatore. He has been working as a lawyer in Coimbatore for many years. In this situation, a gang of four members hacked Udayakumar to death near Mayileripalayam on the way to Pollachi.
Four people were arrested
Coimbatore Superintendent of Police Badri Narayanan said in a press conference regarding the murder incident: Eight special police forces were formed and a search was conducted in the case of lawyer Udayakumar’s murder.
Four people have been arrested in 12 hours. They were interrogated. Out of which, the investigation has revealed that all four of them are from Coimbatore.
30 lakh cash
Ayyanar alias Selvam and Gautham had gone in the car with lawyer Udayakumar. At that time, Ayyanar was involved in an argument demanding the return of Rs 30 lakh given to lawyer Udayakumar.
Argument
They stopped the car near Settipalayam to escalate the argument between them. Ayyanar’s friends Arun Kumar and Abhishek have been invited. Ayyanar and Gautham, who were accompanying the lawyer in the car, hacked lawyer Udayakumar to death with a sickle.
Payment problem
Two-wheeler, car and sickle have been seized by the police in this murder case. The District Superintendent of Police said that the investigation revealed that the reason for this murder was only the issue of payment.
Drug sales
He also said that there has been a decrease in murder cases in Coimbatore this year. There are separate groups for social media monitoring. Steps are being taken to monitor students in colleges. District Superintendent of Police Badri Narayanan said that drug dealers are being arrested in Coimbatore district.
