Reconstruction works
Temple Rajagopuram work was going on in this temple for more than 15 years. Also, many shrines including the Perumal shrine were being renovated and within a few months of the Kumbabhishekam, water leaked from the roof of the mother shrine of the Perumal shrine and rain water flowed into the temple.

Garuda service
This caused a shock among the devotees, today after 15 years, the Brahmotsava Festival Garuda Seva program was held at Sri Kalyana Varadaraja Perumal Temple. Then the shaft broke during the Garuda service and the Perumal palanquin suddenly fell.

A minor injury
A priest sustained minor injuries in the accident. Suddenly the statue of Sami fell down causing shock among the devotees gathered there. Due to this, the tower gate was immediately closed.

History of the Temple
In 1717, Joseph Collett was the then Governor of Madras. He was assisted and written by Viraragava Iyer. He and Joseph Collette became close friends. Veeraragava Iyer was an ardent Perumal devotee who used to visit Kanchipuram frequently and visit the Kalyana Varadaraja Perumal temple there.

Devotion to Perumal
This has resulted in a situation where Joseph Collett and Iyer as a player cannot meet for work and friendship. It is said that his work also suffered due to this. In this case Veeraragava Iyer is asked if you have so much devotion to Perumal, can you tell him what is Perumal doing there now?

Wheel stuck in mud
Veeraga Iyer, who closed his eyes and meditated for two minutes, told him that now the Perumal Chariot is crawling and the wheel is stuck in the mud and all the staff are working to recover it. Shocked to hear this, the governor immediately asked the official in Kanchipuram and they gave the same answer.

Rain damage
The governor, who was overwhelmed by this answer, said that you don’t have to go to Kanchipuram anymore, I will build the Kalyana Varadaraja Perumal temple near your house and built this temple. This temple with such a special history is now getting damaged by rain and the shaft is breaking and Perumal is falling down causing shock among the devotees.
