Hyderabad entered the play-offs... RCB - CSK clash is going to be hot; What should the 2 teams do?-oneindia news

IPL 2024 | Chennai Super Kings | Royal Challengers Bangalore | Sunrisers Hyderabad: 17th IPL (Indian Premier League – 2024) The T20 cricket festival has been going on in India since March 22. In this series, the league match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Gujarat Titans was going to be held at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Thursday.

The match was canceled without even a toss as the rain turned white before the match. Both teams were awarded one point each as the match was canceled due to rain. Thus, the Hyderabad team qualified for the play-off round with a total of 15 points.

After Kolkata and Rajasthan, Hyderabad became the third team to qualify for the play-off round. Similarly, after Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians, Gujarat became the third team with 12 points from 14 matches to go out of the series without qualifying for the play-offs.

What does RCB need to do to make the play-offs?

At this stage, there is a fierce competition between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Chennai Super Kings for the remaining spot in the play-off round.

Bengaluru team must win the match against Chennai team to qualify for the play-offs. The only way for the team to qualify for the play-offs is to beat Chennaiyin by at least 18 runs or in 18.1 overs (with 11 balls to spare).

Bengaluru’s net run rate is +0.387 and Chennai’s net run rate is +0.528, so a mere win won’t help Bengaluru. Because that puts them below Hyderabad (+0.406) and Chennai.

Will CSK qualify for play-offs even if they lose to RCB?

Yes, definitely qualify for the play-offs. For that, the Chennai team will have to avoid a bad defeat against Bengaluru. If Chennai team wins the match, they will be assured of a place in the playoffs. Also, there is a possibility that the Chennai team will advance to the top 2 positions. For that, Rajasthan must lose to Kolkata. Also, Hyderabad must lose to Punjab or the match will be abandoned due to rain.

Apart from this, if tomorrow’s match in Bengaluru on Saturday is abandoned due to rain, it will be good news for Chennai team fans. If that happens, both teams will get one point each. That would put Bengaluru below Chennai. Perhaps, if Chennai lose, the margin of defeat should be close to 17 runs.

For example, if Bengaluru team scores 200, Chennai team must score at least 182 runs. Chennai will have to make sure they don’t lose within 18.1 overs if Bengaluru chase. This will help keep Chennai’s net run rate higher than Bengaluru’s.

Will defending champions Chennai make it back to the play-offs? Or will Bengaluru continue their dominance and make it to the play-offs with a flurry of wins in their last 5 matches? It will be interesting to see.
