Hyundai India has opened a new assembly plant in Nepal. Hyundai India has established this new factory in Nepal in association with Lakshmi Group. While there are already various two-wheeler assembly plants in Nepal, Hyundai has set up this as the country’s first four-wheeler assembly plant.

The factory is set up with a capacity to assemble up to 50,000 cars per year. Through this plant, Lakshmi Group will assemble and sell Hyundai cars in Nepal itself. Thus, without the CBU (Completely Built Unit) system, the price of Hyundai cars is expected to decrease in Nepal. However, it is noteworthy that no official information has been released from the company about the price reduction.

Hyundai will be the first to assemble and sell their Venue model in Nepal through this new factory. Hyundai Venue, Creta, Touan, Santa Fe and Palisade models are currently sold in the country. In the country, Hyundai sells the Venue model with a 4-cylinder, 1.2-litre petrol engine that churns out 61hp of power and 114Nm of torque. The engine of this Venue model is offered with a 5-speed manual gearbox option.

Hero company set up their new assembly plant in Nepal last month. With the capacity to assemble 75,000 bikes per year, Hero has set up this new factory in association with its distributor CG Motos in the country. Hero MotoCorp has announced plans to assemble and sell the Expels 200 4v, Super Splendor, Splendor + and Zoom 110 bikes and scooters at its new assembly plant.
