If we do this we will leave India… WhatsApp warns!

WhatsApp : WhatsApp has said that if they want to remove end-to-end encryption, they will leave India.

WhatsApp is the messaging app used by the most smartphone users worldwide. Through this app, you can exchange messages, photos, and videos to a limited extent through audio calls, video calls, and online groups using the Internet.

And in this, messages sent to one user can be protected by using End to End Encryption facility so that another person does not see it. Recently, the central government has formulated a new technology law to counter that facility.

That is, according to the Central Technology Unit Act 2021, it was said that fake news and false news sharing should be detected for national security reasons and thus, all the news shared through the news sharing application should be saved.

Against this, a case was filed in the Delhi High Court on behalf of WhatsApp and Facebook applications. The lawyer appearing for them argued that the central government has taken this decision without any consultation with the technology companies. It is a matter that affects individual freedom.

Sections 14, 19 and 21 of the Central Technical Division Act 2021 are against the right to privacy. It was argued that perhaps if the central government were to remove the end to end encryption facility, we would be leaving India for a regulation that is against privacy.

Arguing on behalf of the central government, it was argued that if such security laws are not implemented in the country, fake news circulating in the country cannot be detected. The trial of the case is ongoing in the Delhi High Court.
