Prohibition of conducting tuition within North Central Province

Principals, teachers and faculty advisors working in schools in the North Central Province are completely prohibited from working in tuition classes.

A special circular letter dated 04.07.2024 bearing the number NCP/CM/EDU/01/02 has also been issued by the Secretary of the Chief Minister of North Central Province regarding this ban.

North Central Province Chief Minister and Education Ministry Secretary Sirimevan Dharmasena has said this through a circular letter to the Provincial Education Director, all regional directors, district education directors and school principals.

The circular further states,-

There have been persistent complaints that some principals, teacher advisors and teachers working in schools in the North Central Province conduct private tuition classes and seminars during school hours, after school hours or on weekends in their classes and schools, charging students money.

It has been reported that some teachers and principals are not doing their teaching work properly in the school, neglecting the children who do not attend their personal help classes and seminars, and subjecting them to various physical and mental harms and sufferings in the school.

According to this, it is mentioned in the circular that collecting money from school students in North Central Province and conducting private training classes and seminars during school hours, after school hours or on weekends is completely prohibited.

The circular issued by the Chief Minister of North Central Province and the Secretary of the Ministry of Education further stated that strict disciplinary action will be taken against teachers, faculty advisors and principals who do not follow the instructions of this circular.
