The Department of Meteorology has predicted that occasional rain is expected in the Upper, Sabaragamuwa and North-West provinces of the country and Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle and Matara districts today (11).

There is a possibility of rain or thundershower at some places in Uva province in the evening or at night.
There is a possibility of strong wind blowing at a speed of 40-50 km per hour from time to time in the western slopes of Central Highlands, North, North-Central North-Western Provinces, Trincomalee and Hambantota Monarakala districts.
Temporarily gusty winds may occur in these areas during periods of thundershowers.
The public is advised to take necessary precautions to minimize the damage caused by lightning strikes.
