Chris Silverwood has submitted his resignation letter to the Sri Lankan Cricket Board, stating that he is stepping down from the post of head coach due to personal reasons.
In the said letter, he said, “Being an international coach means being away from loved ones for a long time.
It is now time for me to return home and spend some quality time together with the family.
I would like to thank the players coaches, room staff and Sri Lanka Cricket management for supporting me during my time in Sri Lanka.
No success is possible without your support. It is an honor for me to be a part of Sri Lanka Cricket. And I will take away many fond memories from here.”
During Chris Silverwood’s tenure, the Sri Lankan national team won the T20 Asia Cup in 2022. and reached the final of the 50-over Asia Cup in 2023.
A number of bilateral series wins at home and abroad. Among these was a 50-over win against Australia and. A two-match overseas Test series win against Bangladesh gave Sri Lanka a boost.
In this case, the Sri Lankan Cricket Board wished Chris Silverwood the best in his future endeavours. and thanked him for his valuable contributions during his tenure.
