After a long wait, Maruti Suzuki has launched their fourth generation Swift hatchback model today. As expected, the new Swift has been launched with various new comfort and safety features. This hatchback model was first introduced in 2005 and has been a top seller till date. Also, it is the best selling car of Maruti company.
Maruti has said that they have sold 30 lakh Swift cars so far in India alone. Well, with what features and at what price is the new fourth generation Swift launched?
The exterior has received a completely new look for the new Swift model. The front gets a redesigned classy grille and boomerang DRs, along with LED projector headlamps.
The rear gets a new taillight, while both the front and rear bumpers get new bumpers. 15-inch dual-tone alloy wheels are also offered. The new Swift model is available in 9 colors including 6 mono tone and 3 dual tone.
Maruti has styled the interior of the Swift like its premium Belino and Franks models. Features include a 9-inch infotainment system, instrument cluster with 4.2-inch MID, automatic climate control, wireless charger and Arcamis sound system.
Also, for safety, 6 airbags and 3-point seatbelts for all seats are provided as standard. Safety features like ABS with EBD, Brake Assist, ESC, Hill Hold Control are also offered in the new Swift model.
Importantly, the manual gearbox variant of the new Swift model will give 10% more mileage than the previous model, while the automatic gearbox model will give 14% more mileage than the previous model. That means the manual variant is said to deliver a mileage of 24.8 kmpl and the automatic variant is said to deliver a mileage of 25.75 kmpl.
Maruti has used an all-new, three-cylinder, 1.2-litre Z series Z12E engine in the new Swift. Mated to manual and CVT automatic gearboxes, this engine is capable of producing 82hp of power and 108Nm of torque.
This new fourth generation Swift model has been launched in 6 variants namely LXi, VXi, VXi (O), ZXi, ZXi+, ZXi+ Dual Tone and priced between Rs 6.49 lakh to Rs 9.64 lakh. It is worth noting that this is Rs 25,000 to Rs 36,000 more than the third generation Swift model.
