The district administration has requested the people living in Cauvery and Kollidam coastal areas to move to safe places.
Cauvery catchment area
Due to rain in the Cauvery catchment areas, the flow of water to Mettur Dam is increasing. Accordingly, the water flow to the dam has increased to 1,25,500 cubic feet this morning.Delta Districts
Water was released from Mettur Dam on July 28 for irrigation of Kuruvai and Samba cultivation in delta districts. Agricultural lands are irrigated by this Cauvery water. Delta districts including Salem, Karur, Trichy, Thanjavur, Mayiladuthurai, Tiruvarur, Nagai, Pudukottai, Cuddalore will get irrigation facilities for Kuruvai and Samba cultivation.
Use of agricultural land
With this Cauvery water, agriculture is expected to take place in about 17 lakh acres of agricultural land in 12 delta districts. Farmers who have cultivated Guru and Samba are happy with this.
Cauvery, along the banks of Kolhit
In this case, a flood warning has been issued to the laundry workers and the public living in the Cauvery, Kollita coastal area and adjacent low-lying areas of Trichy district. It is advised to move the belongings to higher and safer places.

Barrier fences have been erected and warning boards have been put up at important steps. Also, due to high water flow, public is prohibited from bathing, swimming, fishing and recreation in the river. The district administration has informed that selfies should not be taken in unsafe areas along the shores.

Care should be taken that children do not step into water bodies. Do not take livestock to water bodies for bathing. Apart from bridges, it has been advised not to cross the river at unsafe places.
