Train Service: The earlier connecting trains from Thoothukudi to Coimbatore and Chennai during the day were stopped during the Corona period. After that the train service did not start. Due to this, various organizations and political parties, including the District Passenger Welfare Association, Trade Industry Associations, have been insisting that this train service should be brought quickly. Meanwhile, the Tuticorin-Mettupalayam twice-weekly express train service will start today (July-19).

This train service departs from Thoothukudi at 10.50 pm on two days of the week, Thursday and Saturday, and reaches Mettupalayam at 7.40 am the next day. Similarly, it has been informed that it will leave Mettupalayam at 7.35 pm on Friday and Sunday and reach Thoothukudi at 4.20 am the next day.
Similarly, this train service will stop at the major railway stations of Kovilpatti, Chatur, Virudhunagar, Madurai, Dindigul, Ottanchatram, Palani, Udumalaipet, Pollachi, Kinathukkadavu and Coimbatore.
