Uttarakhand : Eight people died when a van overturned in the river in Rudraprayag district of the state. The van carrying more than 23 passengers on the Rishikesh-Badrinath highway near Raidoli lost control and overturned in the Alaknanda river.
Eight people were killed and 14 injured in the accident, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) sources said. The injured have been admitted to hospital for treatment. It is feared that the death toll is likely to rise as the condition of some of the injured is critical.
Further. According to reports, people who were standing on the side of the road were seriously injured in the accident. It has been learned that most of the passengers in the vehicle are from Delhi.
An (SDRF) official told reporters about the accident that “the van was going from Ghaziabad to Chopda and the accident took place around 11.30 pm. “Initially, the driver lost control and the van met with an accident,” he said. Following this, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Thami has ordered the district collector to conduct an inquiry into how the accident happened.
