Kerala : The death toll in the devastating landslide in Wayanad is increasing. More than 80 people have lost their lives in successive landslides in Meppadi, Mundakai and Suralmalai this morning. Hundreds more are feared trapped.
Around 400 families are suffering as the bridge connecting Suralmalai was swept away by the river. Indian Army, NTRF, STRF and other agencies are involved in the rescue operation.
In this case, Kerala state government has announced that 2 days of mourning will be observed in Kerala. In an official statement in this regard, the government expresses its deep regret for the loss of life and property due to the natural calamity. Official mourning has been declared in the state on July 30 (today) and 31, 2024.
On these two days, the national flag should be flown at half-mast across the state. The government has decided to postpone the scheduled public functions and celebrations,” it said.
