24 Sri Lankans arrested in Kuwait released

Sri Lankans arrested in Kuwait have been released. They were released as a result of the action taken by the Sri Lankan Embassy. The Kuwaiti government arrested 26 Sri Lankans, including singers, for performing without proper permits. 26 people, including singers Indrasaba Lienake, Samanali Fonseka, Jolie Sia and Upeka Nirmani, were arrested by the Kuwaiti police on Friday (02). They were arrested while attending an event organized by a pro-JVP organization.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs, 24 of them were released yesterday night following the action taken by the Sri Lankan Embassy in Kuwait. The band’s instruments were also seized.
