A state level weightlifting competition titled The “Strong Man Champions 2024” was held in Vadavalli, Coimbatore. Organized by Chai Taekwondo Club, competitions were held separately for men and women under categories including senior, junior and sub-junior.
More than 200 people from different districts of Tamil Nadu participated in the competition, including bench press, dead lift and push up.
In every category, the women athletes lifted the weights as well as the men and the women lifted more weights as well. Then a 64-year-old man named Easwaran from Sattur, Virudhunagar district took the rod like a young man and was amazed.
The competition was followed by a prize giving ceremony for the parents of the winners. Inspector Franklin of Vadavalli Police Station, who came to participate as a special invitee, lifted weights while the competition was going on. After lifting 100 kg weight, he asked to increase the weight by adding more and more weight and lifted about 170 kg normally and cheered the players there.
A two-wheeler was awarded to the overall champion, first prize was a bicycle to 13, second prize was a smart watch, third prize was Air Buds and trophies, certificates and medals were also awarded.
