Who will be the next coach of Indian cricket?

Rahul Dravid | Jay Shah | Indian Cricket Team | BCCI: Former Indian captain Rahul Dravid is working as the head coach of the Indian men’s cricket team. His tenure ends with the T20 World Cup in America and West Indies starting next month.

In this case, who will be the next coach of the Indian men’s cricket team? The exam is going to start soon. Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Secretary Jai Shah said that those interested can register online and current coach Dravid can apply again if he wants.

Speaking at an event held in Mumbai today, Jay Shah said, “Rahul Dravid’s tenure is till the World Cup. We are going to call for applications soon for the post of Head Coach. If Dravid wants to reapply, he can. We have decided the eligibility criteria for the same. We will then invite applications for support staff in consultation with the Cricket Advisory Committee. The tenure of the coach will be for three years,” he said.

He said that the Indian team will travel in two groups for the T20 World Cup series and the Indian players who have not qualified for the play-offs in the IPL will travel with the first group on May 24. “The team will travel in two groups, the first group will travel on the 24th of this month and the rest will go after the IPL is over,” he said.

The impact player rule will be discussed

The Indian Cricket Board is set to discuss the ‘Impact Player’ rule with all the franchises in a meeting after the T20 World Cup in USA and West Indies. This rule has sparked a lot of debate in the current IPL season. Especially reducing the role of all-rounders in the team. With players like Shivam Dubey in India’s World Cup squad, he Chennai Super Kings (CSK) did not get a chance to bowl. CSK team is using him only for batting.

That rule has been used as a ‘test’ in this IPL season. It is not a permanent rule. BCCI is ready to take a decision for the next season after consulting all stakeholders. “The impact player was used as a test in this IPL. This was done to give two Indian players a chance. It is not permanent, we will discuss with Indian team captain, players, owners, coaches and then take a decision about it. The meeting may take place after the World Cup,” said BCCI Secretary Jai Shah.

The Indian board will also discuss player retention when it meets the IPL owners next.

Meanwhile, Indian team coach Dravid, NCA president VVS Laxman, selection committee chairman Ajit Agarkar and Board of India general manager of cricket operations Abe Kuruvilla have suggested some changes in domestic cricket.

Many games end in no result due to fog. Thus, the board is considering rescheduling the Ranji Trophy matches played in winter. “We have received recommendations for domestic cricket and we will implement them. The weather in some parts of the North Zone should be considered,” BCCI Secretary Jai Shah said.
