When buying a new car, many people have a variety of needs and amenities in mind. Nowadays many people like to have a sunroof in their cars. Majority of people nowadays opt for a car with a sunroof, mainly because kids love it. Earlier sunroof was offered only in premium and luxury cars. But as the customers started wanting more, the car manufacturers started offering the sunroof facility in the cheaper cars as well.
There are two types of sunroofs offered on cars sold in India. One is a single pane sunroof and the other is a panoramic sunroof. While the panoramic sunroof facility is now available on more expensive cars, the sunroof with sunroof is available on the cheaper cars as well. Well, let’s see which are the sunroof cars available in India under Rs 15 lakh.
Hyundai Xter:
hyundai has introduced a single-pane electric sunroof in the SX variant of the Xter micro SUV that it sells in India. This variant is priced at Rs 8.23 lakh ex-showroom. The Xter is powered by a 1.2-litre petrol engine with a choice of 5-speed manual and automatic gearboxes.
Kia Sonet:
Kia has introduced a single-pane electric sunroof in the HTE(O) variant of its compact SUV Sonet in India. This variant is priced at Rs 8.19 lakh ex-showroom. This variant is offered with two engine options – a four-cylinder 1.2-litre petrol and a four-cylinder 1.5-litre turbo diesel. Also, six gearbox options are offered, namely 5-speed manual, 6-speed manual, 6-speed iMT, 6-speed torque converter automatic and 7-speed dual-clutch automatic.
Tata Punch and Tata Altras:
Tata Motors has introduced a single-pane electric sunroof in the Punch micro SUV and hatchback Altras in India. The Accomplished S variant priced at Rs 8.5 lakh ex-showroom and above on the Punch model and the XM(S) variant priced at Rs 7.5 lakh ex-showroom and above on the Altras come with a sunroof. The Punch model gets a 1.2-litre petrol engine, while the Altras gets 1.2-litre turbo petrol and 1.5-litre turbo diesel engine options.
Hyundai i20 and Hyundai Venue:
The i20 comes with a sunroof in the Sports (O) variant priced at Rs 8.7 lakh ex-showroom and above and the S(O) Turbo variant in the Venue priced at Rs 10.8 lakh. The i20 model is offered with a 1.2-litre petrol engine, while the Venue is offered with 1.5-litre diesel, 1.2-litre petrol and 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine options.
Tata Nexon:
Following the Punch and Altras models, Tata Motors has also introduced a single-pane sunroof in the Smart (S) petrol variant of the Nexon model. The variant is priced at Rs 9.8 lakh ex-showroom. Tata offers two engine options for the Nexon, a 1.2-litre turbo petrol and a 1.5-litre turbo diesel.
Maruti Suzuki Brezza:
Maruti has introduced a sunroof in the ZXI variant of the Brezza SUV that it sells in India. Priced at Rs 11.2 lakh ex-showroom, this variant is powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine. This engine comes with a choice of 5-speed manual and 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. The Brezza is the only Maruti car model featured in this list.
Honda City and Elevate:
Honda has offered a sunroof on the VX variants of the City and Elevate models they sell in India. The VX variants of the two models are priced at Rs 13.82 lakh and Rs 13.81 lakh ex-showroom respectively. Honda has offered a 1.5-litre petrol engine with 6-speed manual and CVT automatic gearbox options in both the models.
MG Aster:
MG Motor Company has provided sunroof facility in select variant of Aster model which they are selling in India. Selling at an ex-showroom price of Rs 13 lakh, MG has offered a panoramic sunroof instead of a single-pane. The Aster is the first model in this list to feature a panoramic sunroof. The model is offered with two engine options, 1.5-litre petrol and 1.3-litre turbo petrol.
Hyundai Verna and Hyundai Creta:
Following the i20, Venue and Exeter, Hyundai has also introduced a sunroof in its sedan Verna and SUV Creta. Hyundai has added a sunroof to the SX variant of the Verna, which is priced at Rs 13.1 lakh ex-showroom. Also, the company has offered a panoramic sunroof on the S(O) and above variants of the Creta.
