The Government of Tamil Nadu has issued an order allocating Rs.1229.04 crore for the payment of wages under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme.

Most of the villages across India have only agriculture as their livelihood. There is no work in agriculture throughout the year. As a result, the remaining days of the year were spent only on the wages received when there was work.

Thus, the central government started the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme in order to provide employment to the people in the villages only for 100 days in a year. The central government and the state government jointly provide funds to those working under this scheme. In this case, the Tamil Nadu government has allocated Rs.1,229 crore for the implementation of this scheme in this financial year.

The meeting of the Central Empowerment Committee was held on March 27. In the meeting, the committee approved the labor budget to allow 20 crore man-days for Tamil Nadu in the year 2024-25 under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme.

It also approved payment of Rs.319 per person per day. Subsequently, the central government allocated Rs.921 crore 78 lakh 22 thousand funds to Tamil Nadu on April 25, including the outstanding amount of the project.

Following this, in a letter written by the Director of Rural Development to the government, to approve the use of Rs.1229 crores 4 lakhs 29 thousand 333 as Rs.307 crores 26 lakhs 7,333 as 25 per cent funds of the state government along with the 75 percent funds of the central government. had informed. The Tamil Nadu government has carefully considered this and approved the use of the funds.

Also, the guidelines issued by the central government regarding this scheme should be strictly followed. It has also been informed that the certificate of utilization of funds should be sent to the central government as per the relevant rules.
