Indian Institute of Technology – Delhi, Abu Dhabi Campus has now started the admission process for its undergraduate courses, which is eagerly awaited by UAE nationals and foreigners. Last year, during Prime Minister Modi’s visit to the UAE, an MoU was signed between the Indian Ministry of Education and the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Science to set up an IIT-Delhi campus in the UAE capital.
Accordingly, in the academic year 2024-25, IIT-Delhi Abu Dhabi campus has invited admissions for two undergraduate courses. B.Tech (Computer Science & Engineering) and B.Tech (Energy Engineering). A total of 60 students, 30 for each program, can study at the IIT Abu Dhabi campus. Accordingly, the first batch of students will join IIT Abu Dhabi in August or September.
Admission to academic programs in IITs is done through two modes. Admission is through Combined Entrance Test (CAET)- 2024 and Joint Entrance Examination (JEE-Advanced)- 2024. Eligibility and other details for JEE (Advanced) are available at https://jeeadv.ac.in/index.html.
CAET Eligibility Test
UAE resident Indians, UAE nationals and international students can participate in CAET based on five eligibility criteria. Candidates must have secured at least 75 percent marks (or equivalent) in the 12th Class/Grade (or equivalent) board examination.
OR Be among the top 20 percent marks in the respective 12th Class/Grade (or equivalent) Board Examination.
Applicants should be born on or after October 1, 1999. Apply with age relaxation of two years as per UAE national policy. They can write the entrance test a maximum of two times in two consecutive years. 12th Class/Grade (or equivalent) must have appeared for the first time in the current year or previous year. Should not be an IIT Admit. After getting admission in an IIT, they cannot retake the entrance test whether they pursue further studies or not.
Who is eligible to apply?
Children of UAE residents and children of Indian citizens who have resided in the UAE for the past five years can study in IITs.
Apply. It is mandatory that they have completed their 10th to 12th class/grade studies in a UAE school. Children of UAE nationals are also eligible to enter.
Except for UAE and Indian nationals, those who have obtained a Person of Indian Origin (PIO) card or an Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) card on or after 4 March 2021 will be considered international students. They can also apply for IIT. UAE nationals who have completed one year of compulsory military service are exempted for one year if they have a valid certificate.
