Education is given more importance than anything else in Tamil Nadu. In that way, various schemes like nutrition scheme, free bicycle and free uniform are being implemented to benefit the poor and humble students. Various measures are being taken to avoid dropouts.
In that way, the then AIADMK government in 2011 introduced a scheme to provide free laptops to students studying in government, government-aided schools and colleges in Tamil Nadu with the aim of raising the educational standards and increasing the skills of students.
Students who completed 12th standard were given a free laptop to facilitate their studies in the college. This free laptop has helped lakhs of students to study engineering and technical courses across Tamil Nadu. But the AIADMK has been alleging that the free laptop program was stopped after the DMK came to power.
At the same time, School Education Minister Anbil Mahes said that school students will be given free laptops after the financial situation of Tamil Nadu is balanced. At this stage, the 12th class exam results are out, and the college admissions are going to take place soon.
In this situation, Edappadi Palaniswami has alleged in a statement, “With the aim of raising the educational standards of the students studying in government and government-aided schools, the special laptops that were regularly provided by the AIADMK government have been stopped after the DMK government came to power.”
With the new academic year starting in a few days, the fact that the DMK government has not issued any announcement regarding the provision of laptops for this year is condemnable.
Also, “principal M.K.Stalin.. will your DMK government come forward to fulfill the unanimous expectation of the students that they should be provided with laptops at least this year?” Or are you going to make some lame excuse this year too on the scheme brought by the AIADMK government?” He also raised a question. Also, he has also posted the hashtag “Laptop Where is Stalin” on his Twitter page.
