2 arrested in Kerala; Kochi Police came to Tamil Nadu for investigation

The Special Investigation Team of the Kochi Police, which is probing the case of illegal harvesting of organs from Malayalis and others from Kerala, arrived in Tamil Nadu on Sunday for questioning after arresting two persons.

The Special Investigation Team of Kochi Police has reached Tamil Nadu to trace the organ trafficking agents and victims after receiving confidential information about the illegal harvesting of body organs.

Kochi police have arrested Sabit Nassar, who cheated people in Kerala, Bengaluru and Hyderabad by paying lakhs of rupees for organ donation, investigating the international organ trafficking ring. The Special Investigation Team of Kochi Police is going to examine the money transactions from Sabit’s bank account to identify the people in his network.

Sabit Nasser, who was arrested, admitted to smuggling around 20 people to Iran as organ donors while working in Iran. Anmanorama.com reported that the police said that he said that this was not done directly but through someone from Hyderabad.

Sabit Nasser, in his statement to the police, confirmed that all but one of the victims hailed from Kerala’s North Palakkad district and hailed from Hyderabad and Bengaluru. A police source said that they have no other information about Palakkad, which is said to be a victim of the organ trafficking mafia.

According to the information received by the police, it has been revealed that with the aim of earning money, the accused cheated the accused by smuggling them in the belief that they would be given legal compensation if they donated kidneys abroad.

Sabit Nasser, who has been arrested in connection with illegal organ trafficking, has been booked under IPC Section 370 (trafficking of a person) and the Transplantation of Human Organs Act, 1994.

Meanwhile, following a tip-off he was picked up by Nedumbacherry Police Sabit Nasser from Kochi International Airport on May 18. Central agencies registered his arrest on May 19.

Meanwhile, the police have approached the court seeking permission to take Sajid Shyam, who was arrested on Thursday, into custody. Sajid Shyam is Sajid Shyam’s close associate, the Special Investigation Team said.
