The Tamil Nadu government has given extra time to allow Omni buses with foreign registration numbers to operate in Tamil Nadu till June 18.

More than 3 thousand omni buses are running across Tamil Nadu. About 600 buses have foreign registration numbers. As a result, the Tamil Nadu government’s transport department gets less revenue and road tax. Because of this restrictions were imposed on Omni buses with foreign registration number. It said that registration number should be changed by June 14. But as they were not properly followed, the Tamil Nadu government took action.

Accordingly, the Transport Department has announced that omni buses with foreign registration numbers should not operate in Tamil Nadu from tomorrow (June 14). After this, the Omni Bus Owners Association requested to give an additional period of 1 month. Accepting this, the Tamil Nadu Government Transport Commission has given permission to operate buses with out-of-state registration numbers in Tamil Nadu till the morning of June 18. It has also warned that action will be taken as per the rules if Omni buses with foreign registration numbers are operating in Tamil Nadu after Monday.
