Hostels for working women… How much money did the central government give to Tamil Nadu in 10 years?

In Tamil Nadu, the state government is taking action by building many hostels for women working in remote areas. It also has the contribution of the central government. Karur Constituency Congress MP Jyotimani raised a question in this regard in the Lok Sabha. That is, in the last 10 years, state-wise how much funds the central government has released for working women’s hostels.

The share for Tamil Nadu should be mentioned. If possible, answer should be given regarding allocation of funds for Karur Lok Sabha constituency. Is there any plan to increase hostels in each district? Are such measures being taken in Karur? had raised such questions.

Central Department of Women & Child Development Ans

Union Women and Child Development Minister Annapoorna Devi’s written reply to this said hostels are being built for women workers under Mission Shakti. Funds for these are allocated to the States/Union Territories.

Allocation of Funds for Hostel for Working Women

Through this, adequate security and facilities are provided to the working women. Apart from that, nursery care centers are also established to take care of the children of these women. Such hotels are operating in various parts of Tamil Nadu. Not in Karur. No recommendation in this regard has come from the Tamil Nadu government.

Funds earmarked over three financial years

Looking at the state-wise allocation of funds, Tamil Nadu has not been allocated a single rupee in the financial years 2014-15, 2015-16, 2016-2017, 2017-18, 2018-19 and 2019-20. 392 crore rupees in 2020-21, 350 crore rupees in 2021-22 and 593 crore rupees in 2022-23. The central government’s reply said that even in the financial year 2023-24, there is no provision of even a single rupee.
