Thiruvananthapuram : Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has announced that Rs 6 lakh will be given to the families of those who died in the Wayanad landslide and Rs 50,000 to Rs 75,000 to the injured.

On July 30th, a landslide occurred in the areas of Mundakkai, Meppadi and Suralmalai in Wayanad, Kerala. It has been reported that more than 400 people have died in this incident so far. Thousands have lost their own relationships, lost their homes and lost their livelihoods.

The State Disaster Response Team and the Indian Army are still engaged in rescue operations. Hundreds of bodies are still missing. Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan today (August 14) has announced relief assistance to the victims of the landslide in the context of the central and state governments taking serious action regarding these rescue operations.

A cabinet meeting was held in Thiruvananthapuram today. In this, the details of the relief funds to be given to the victims of the landslide were discussed. The bodies of 233 people and the body parts of 206 people have been recovered by the rescue team so far in the Wayanad landslide. He also informed that search operations for 118 missing persons are going on intensively.

Relief Funding:

According to the information given by Pinarayi Vijayan about the relief funding, he said that the families of those who died due to the landslide will be given 6 lakh rupees each, those who sustained more than 60 percent of their body injuries will be given 75,000 rupees, and those who sustained 40 to 50 percent of their body injuries will be given 50,000 rupees as compensation.

Also, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan stated that the government’s aim is to provide free shelter for the victims of landslides, and he said that Rs 6,000 per month will be given to the families who are staying in rented houses, and this subsidy will also be given to the families of the victims who are staying at their relatives’ houses.

It has been announced that the relief financial assistance for the families affected by the Wayanad landslide will be provided from the Chief Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund (CMDRF).
