NASA is currently making a major decision regarding the safe return of astronauts Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore from the International Space Station (ISS). The two astronauts who traveled to the International Space Station aboard Boeing’s Starliner spacecraft are expected to return as NASA considers whether to use the same spacecraft or switch to SpaceX’s Dragon spacecraft. It has been reported that NASA is going to give an answer in this regard tonight.
Astronauts Sunitha Williams and Butch Wilmore arrived at the International Space Center on June 6 from the US state of Florida in the Boeing Starliner spacecraft.
Both astronauts have been there for more than three months. Their return to Earth continues to be delayed. The cause of this has been attributed to a technical fault in the Boeing Starliner spaceship in which they were traveling.
NASA is actively involved in consultations to bring astronauts back to Earth safely. The main decision is to bring them by Starliner. At the same time alternative plans are also being made.
That means two astronauts are scheduled to go to the International Space Station this month aboard SpaceX’s Crew 9 Dragon spacecraft. The trip was rescheduled for September 25. The new astronauts are said to be on the International Space Station until the end of February before returning to Earth.
