The Sri Lankan team will face the South African team today (03) in their first match for Group D in T20 World Cup.
The match, which will be held in New York, will start at 8 PM Sri Lanka time today. The Sri Lankan team has entered the World Cup this time with a stronger team than in the last decade.
Having entered the World Cup with a balanced team, Sri Lanka’s bowling is stronger than ever. While the batting line-up was lacking in action players, former captain Dasun Shanaka, who played in the last warm-up match against Ireland, showed confidence in both batting and bowling.
Sanath Jayasuriya, who has gone to the United States as a consultant with the Sri Lankan team, said, “Our bowling team is there to secure a good run and if a couple of batsmen can get more runs, we can challenge any team.”
On the other hand, South Africa, who are the top-ranked team in Group D, have captain Aiden Markram, Quinton de Kock, Aiden Markram and Heindrick Clausen in action to challenge any team.
Correspondingly, there is a strong bowling line-up with Kagiso Rabada, off-spinner Keshav Maharaj and Tabriz Shamsi.
