The DMK government led by Stalin, who does not know what financial management is, has already borrowed 3.5 lakh crores of rupees in 3 years and made the people debtors. As if that is not enough, this DMK government has put burdens on the people due to the inefficiency of its administration like increase in property tax and house tax up to 150 percent, increase in drinking water charges, increase in electricity charges up to 52 percent, increase in garbage tax, increase in the price of milk and milk products.
On 8.7.2023, the DMK government has raised the fees for various services provided by the registration department and caused a lot of trouble to the people. According to the government notification dated 8.5.2024, the incompetent DMK government has increased the stamp duty from 10 times to 33 times for 26 services including issuance of adoption documents, contract documents, cancellation deeds, copy deeds, family member power bond from 3.5.2024.

On the other hand, in a statement issued by the general secretary of AMU, DTV Dhinakaran, it is said;
“The Government of Tamil Nadu should immediately withdraw the decree of manifold increase in stamp duty affecting the common people – creative measures to increase revenue.
The Tamil Nadu government’s anti-people attitude, which has increased manifold the stamp duty for all types of activities such as affidavits, contracts, public authority and agreements through the deed department, is highly condemnable.
The DMK government, which has directly and indirectly increased the guide value for electricity, property tax, road tax, drinking water tax and land starting with the milk price hike, has now increased the stamp duty multiple times, which has caused great dissatisfaction and opposition among the people of Tamil Nadu.
In three years of taking over the government, without taking any steps to regularize the financial management, putting additional burdens on the poor and needy people in the name of increasing taxes and fees, and only trying to increase the revenue through that, highlights the administrative incompetence of the DMK government.
Therefore, I urge the Government of Tamil Nadu to immediately withdraw the order for multifold increase in stamp duty, which directly affects the public, and to take creative measures to increase the revenue of the government without burdening the people.” DTV Dhinakaran has issued a statement.
