New Hospital at Kolathur:
The Tamil Nadu government has announced the happy news that the new hospital under construction at Kolathur, Chennai is going to open soon.
According to a press release published by the Public Works Department last Saturday, the Tamil Nadu government has decided to convert the Kolathur Periyar Nagar Government Hospital in Chennai into a new three-storey special hospital with modern facilities and allocated a fund of Rs 54.82 crore for this purpose.
110 crores to be ready for the grand hospital:
Following this, the foundation stone was laid on March 7 for the construction of the hospital and approval was given to build three more floors while the work was in progress. A total of Rs 110 crore has been earmarked for these works.
Construction of this new specialty hospital with ground floor and six floors is currently in full swing. The construction work has been completed and will soon be opened for public use.
What are the facilities?
The new hospital will have a new three-story floor with modern facilities, intensive care units on the first floor, modern laundromat, car park, and Criminology Department.
On the first floor:
The first floor will house delivery wards, rehabilitation centers blood bank and three surgery centers.
On 2nd and 3rd floor:
The second and third floor will house the facilities like Chief’s Comprehensive Medical Insurance Ward Medical Wards, Full Physical Examination Unit, Private Rooms, Children’s Ward, Maternity Ward, Intensive Care and Intensive Care Units.
In Ward 4 and 5:
Floors 4, 5 and 6 will house the specialized outpatient department, diabetes ward, cardiology wards, cancer ward and laboratory. Apart from this, all the floors of the building will have facilities like toilet for disabled people, electric lifts, sewage treatment facility, fire fighting equipment.
For the people of North Chennai:
While Kalayan Pannoku High Specialty Hospital has been set up in Guindy to provide excellent medical facilities to the people of South Chennai, this new specialty hospital which is currently being constructed at Kolathur for the benefit of the people of North Chennai will soon be opened,” it said.
