RB Udhayakumar: Former AIADMK minister RB Udayakumar arrested for protesting in Madurai.
A fertilizer manufacturing plant is functioning near Kallikudi in Madurai district. Villagers of the area have complained that the wastewater coming out of this factory is polluting the ground water and air in the surrounding villages.
They have also said that health is affected by waste water. The people of the area had also said that they would boycott the Lok Sabha elections that were held due to this. There was an allegation that no action was taken even after a complaint was filed in this regard. However, the company informed that the factory is operating in accordance with the legal provisions.
In this situation, AIADMK former minister RB Udayakumar joined the villagers in a road blockade today demanding the permanent closure of the fertilizer factory which is harmful to the people. This road blockade protest was held under the leadership of RP Udayakumar. Public and members of AIADMK participated in this protest.
They said that the protest will continue until the factory is closed permanently. In this context, the police have arrested more than 100 people, including former minister RB Udayakumar, who participated in the road blockade. This has caused shock among AIADMK members.
