Delhi: West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress President Mamata Banerjee has written a bold letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi demanding that the NEET exam should be canceled in one fell swoop after numerous scams took place in the recently held NEET exam. So far voices have been raised only from Tamil Nadu to cancel the NEET exam, now anti-NEET slogans are starting to be heard from all over the country.
The NEET exam was held across the country on May 5. More than 5 lakh candidates participated in this exam. But the massive frauds and malpractices in this exam came to light recently and created a huge stir. In this regard, the investigation conducted by various state police revealed that the NEET question paper was sold for lakhs of rupees and the marks were given by taking money. The police have arrested more than 10 people in this connection.
Due to such numerous scams, the call to cancel the NEET exam is starting to rise across the country. In that regard, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi today. In that letter he said:
There was no problem when students were selected for medical courses on the basis of plus 2 marks. The best doctors in the world have also emerged from India. But since the central government brought the NEET exam claiming to produce qualified doctors, controversies and issues have become a constant story.
Accordingly, the scams that took place in the recent NEET examination are shocking. Scams such as awarding marks for money and selling question papers have rocked the country. Above all, it raises the question of what the future holds when doctors who can save precious human lives are selected through such scams.
Also, the issue has become more serious as the cheating in the NEET exam has just come to light. But can the central government prove that such scams did not take place in previous NEET exams? People have lost faith in the NEET exam due to the current scam. Therefore, proceeding with NEET will be like acting against the people of the country. Therefore, Mamata Banerjee has said in her letter that the NEET exam should be canceled without further delay.
