Following this, Muthukuda was declared as a tourist destination under the Green Tamil Nadu project in 2022 and three crore rupees were allocated from the tourism sector development fund for these works.

A wandering forest in the shape of a fishbone:
Also, in this area where the South Vellar meets the sea, canals have been cut in such a way that 91 branches diverge at a distance of 1200 meters in the coastal area to create a forest here. And this wandering forest is created in the shape of a fish pin. For this purpose, 44,000 seeds of Alayathi plant have been sown. These seeds sown last year have now started growing well and soon it will become a tree and take on the appearance of a forest.
