Bribery to the farmer to write a favorable investigation into the complaint; Electricity Board officer arrested

Muthuswamy son Thangarasu (45) hails from Kavarapatti village of Thaniyam taluk of Trichy district. He and his brother have divided the 5 acres of native land belonging to him into half and are farming in it. His elder brother Ganesan has a share of agricultural land. There is a bore well on the land allotted to Thangaras.

There is only one free agricultural electricity connection along with borewell and gantry. After getting a free electricity connection and drawing water from two places, the officials of the power board investigated and fined Thangarasu.

Also, the electricity connection which Thangarasu was using alone has been changed to commercial use last (07.06.2024). Then, on (25.06.2024) Sumathi filed a complaint against you by saying that she was speaking to Thangarasu’s telephone as Assistant Executive Engineer AD. He said that you come to Tiniyam office and see me.

On that (26.06.2024) at 3 o’clock in the afternoon, he went to the power board office in Tintiam and met Thirumaran, assistant engineer of the power board there. Then AD Thirumaran gave you a tariff change and you did not give me anything, now Sumathi is complaining against you. The complaint should be written in your favor. So he asked me to give him 2000 rupees.

Thangarasu has prepared money and said that he will come and see you. Thangarasu, who did not want to pay the bribe, filed a complaint with the Trichy Anti-Bribery Department.

As per the suggestion of DSP Manikandan on this complaint, today (02.07.2024) assistant engineer AT Thirumaran demanded a bribe of Rs.

At that time, a team consisting of anti-bribery department DSP Manikandan, inspectors Sakthivel, Balamurugan and Prasanna Venkatesh caught AD Thirumaran red-handed and arrested him in the bribery case.
