Caste wise census; What were the demands of Amit Shah? Thirumavalavan is the answer

Thirumavalavan said on Twitter X about the demands made to Amit Shah regarding caste-wise census.

In it, “I made the following demands to Home Minister Amit Shah that a caste-wise census should be conducted in India.

India’s census, which is conducted once every ten years, has not been conducted since 2011. Postponed indefinitely by your government in 2021 due to corona period.

As the population census is not conducted, various other surveys are also not conducted. In particular, many important surveys such as consumption survey for goods and services and National Family Health Survey are not conducted.

As a result, many schemes including the Food Security Act, Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Scheme are being implemented as per the 2011 census.

State governments have not been able to properly allocate funds for development projects for SC/ST people. As caste-wise census is not conducted, the laws enacted by the state governments are also unable to be implemented. Therefore, I request that immediate action be taken to conduct a caste-wise census,” he said.
