It has been announced that a special train will be run from Chennai Egmore to Velankanni twice a week from May 17 to June 30.

In this regard, a press release issued on behalf of the Southern Railway said:
From 17th May to 30th June Special train (No: 06037) departs from Chennai Egmore twice a week on Friday and Sunday at 11.50 pm and reaches Velankanni at 8.30 am the next day.
Velankanni – Egmore
Alternately, from May 18 to July 1 twice a week (Saturday and Monday), this train (No: 06038) will depart from Velankanni at 2.45 pm and arrive Egmore at 11.30 pm.

It has been informed that this special train will reach Velankanni from Egmore via Thambaram, Chengalpattu, Melmaruvathur, Villupuram, Panruti, Tirupathripuliyur, Cuddalore Harbour, Chidambaram, Sirkarzhi, Vaideeswaran Koil, Mayiladuthurai, Peralam, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam
