Cloud EV:
MG Motor India previously operated under SAIC of China. At present only 49% of its shares are held by SAIC. An Indonesian automobile company called Wulling is also currently operating under SAIC.
MG is planning to launch the Cloud electric car in India, which is sold in Indonesia by the Wuling company.
A new name for Cloud EV:
Earlier, there were reports that MG Motor Company is going to launch the car in India under the name of Cloud EV. But now it has been reported that MG Motor may use the name ‘Windsor EV’ for it. The company had already registered the name for trademark in India earlier this year.
MG’s third electric car:
MG is currently selling two electric cars in India, ZS EV and Comet EV. Also, MG Motors is second only to Tata Motors in terms of sales.
Now Windsor EV is the company’s third electric car. This car looks like an MPV and can seat only 5 people. But, it cannot be called an MPV. A big hatchback if you want.
MG doesn’t call it an MPV or a hatchback, but calls it a CUV. CUV stands for Crossover Utility Vehicle.
MG Windsor EV: Battery and Range
The Cloud EV sold in Indonesia offers two battery options, 37.9kWh and 50.6kWh. The smaller battery has a range of 360 km and the larger battery has a range of 460 km. Also, an electric motor capable of producing 134hp is mounted on the front axle of this car.
At what price will it be released?
The car is expected to be launched in India at a price tag of Rs 20 lakh, less than the ZS EV and more than the Comet EV. Also, this CUV will compete with Tata Nexon EV and Mahindra XUV 400.
MG Motor will officially announce the name of this car on August 5. On the same day, information about its release is also expected to be released.
