Coimbatore Delta Squad went on a rescue mission with modern equipment!

Wayanad Landslide
The number of people who died due to heavy landslides in Kerala’s Wayanad district is causing concern. So far 270 bodies have been found. The death toll is feared to rise further.

Rescue work
Army and fire brigade are involved in the rescue operation. Rescue work is going on in the affected areas of Mundakkai and Suralmala. Many have been rescued and admitted to hospital. Many are staying in camps in Meppadi. Kerala government observed two days of mourning as it was the worst landslide in the history of Kerala.

Red Alert
The Indian Meteorological Department has issued a red alert as there will be heavy rainfall in Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod.

Delta Squad
In this situation, delta squad consisting of soldiers of the three forces left for Wayanad from Coimbatore with the equipment to easily detect the people buried in the soil in Wayanad landslide.

Sulur Air Base
Delta Quad is operational at Air Force base in Sulur, Coimbatore. Delta Squad consists of Air Force, Navy and Army personnel. They are trained to be very effective in rescue operations in disaster situations.

Modern tool
The 25-member Delta team, led by Commander Eason, has left for the landslide-hit Wayanad region of Kerala. In the areas of Wayanad, Sural Hills and Mundakai, many people carry a device called synthetic appraiser radar which can accurately detect the burials in the soil.

Delta squad that went to Wayanad
This device works through satellite signal. Using this tool, people buried in the ground can be easily identified and recovered. The Delta Squad team has rushed to Wayanad district with rescue equipment including rubber boats, rubber tubes, life jackets and torch light.

This Delta Squad team has so far 18 disaster and disaster rescue operations experience. More than 3,500 lives have been saved in these rescue operations.
