Community Sculptors Association Student Discussion with Speaker

Some of the students of the Society of Social Sculptors recently met and discussed with Speaker Mahinda Yappa Abeywardena in Parliament. Parliamentary Secretary General Kushani Rohanadeera also participated in this meeting.

The Community Sculptors Association has established Children’s Shadow Pradeshiya Sabhas under the theme ‘The Beginning of Democracy’ and these Children Shadow Pradeshiya Sabhas are comprised of children aged 11 to 15 years from 57 villages in 10 districts in Sri Lanka. So far 19 Child Shadow Pradesh Sabhas have been established in 10 districts. The students who visited here had an opportunity to present directly to the Speaker about the problems found in their areas. The Speaker said that the Speaker has provided immediate solutions to the problems and will investigate the problems and submit them to the relevant institutions to take necessary action.

Also, Parliamentary Secretary General Kushani Rohanadeera explained to the students about the parliamentary system.

The students who participated here visited the Parliament and on this occasion M. Jayalath Perera, Director of Parliamentary Legislative Services Department and Deputy Director of Communication Department, officials of Social Sculptors Association also participated.
