Defamation case adjourned in Coimbatore court: Police raid Chavku Shankar's house, office in Chennai-oneindia news

Savukku Shankar: Sub-Inspector Sukanya filed a complaint with the Coimbatore Cybercrime Police, alleging that famous political commentator Chavuk Shankar, in an interview to a YouTube channel, had defamed police officers and made sexist comments about women policemen.

A case under 5 sections was registered against political commentator Chavku Shankar on this complaint. Following this, the Coimbatore Cybercrime Police arrested Chawku Shankar in Theni on the 4th and put him in the Central Jail.

Last week, the defense lawyer filed a petition seeking bail in this case. The hearing on this petition came up for hearing today (Friday) in the Fourth Criminal Court, Coimbatore. Judge Saravana Babu then adjourned the hearing of the case to the 14th.

Meanwhile, the police are raiding the house of Chavuk Shankar, who was arrested in the case of possession of ganja in his car. Theni police are searching the house in Maduravayal and the office in Thiagaraya Nagar. A search is being conducted at Chavku Shankar’s Maduravayal Housing Board residence and The-Nagar Chavku Media office after receiving information about the supply of ganja.

Earlier, in a case registered on the basis of a complaint filed by female journalist Sandhya Ravishankar and Tamilan Munnetra Pada president K. Veeralakshmi, it is noteworthy that the police brought Chavik Shankar from Coimbatore to Chennai to produce him in court.
