Chennai : EPS appeared in the Chennai court in the defamation case filed by the Finance Minister.
During the ongoing parliamentary election campaign in Tamil Nadu, AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi Palaniswami, while campaigning in support of the AIADMK candidate in Central Chennai Lok Sabha Constituency Purasaivakam, is said to have slandered DMK MP Dayanidhi Maran.
Dayanidhi Maran, who won the 2019 election as MP from Madhya Pradesh and became the DMK candidate in the 2024 election, accused Edappadi Palanichami of not spending the parliament member’s funds properly when he won the last time.
Dayanidhi Maran filed a criminal defamation case against Edappadi Palanichami in Egmore Court, Chennai. He had alleged that he had properly spent the parliamentary constituency development funds and that Edappadi Palaniswami was spreading defamation against him.
Following this, AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi Palanichamy was present in person when the trial of this case was held today in the 13th arbitration panel of Egmore Court, Chennai. Later, the judge adjourned the hearing of the case to June 27 and ordered that arguments from both sides be heard on that day.
