While 59 people have died due to drinking alcohol in Kallakurichi, today a protest will be held in Chennai under the leadership of Thol Thirumavalavan demanding the implementation of complete prohibition of alcohol in Tamil Nadu.

Illegal trade in bootleg liquor:

In his statement published by the President of the Visika, Thol Thirumavalavan, he said, “We are pointing out to the Tamil Nadu government on behalf of the Vimithya Siruthaigal Party that the implementation of total alcohol prohibition in Tamil Nadu is a permanent solution to prevent the crime of bootleg liquor. A gang is engaged in this business against the law, claiming that bootleg liquor mixed with methanol gives extra intoxication.

Death toll rises to 59:

People who are addicted to this irreversible addiction are also becoming customers of counterfeit alcohol. It has been revealed that such counterfeiting business is continuing in Kallakurichi area. Many people have died as a result.

Many others are being treated in hospitals in critical condition. We urge the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu to take appropriate measures to implement complete prohibition of alcohol considering the future of Tamil Nadu.

Demand for complete abstinence:

He also said that a protest will be held in Chennai on June 24 on behalf of the Liberation Tigers Party to demand the implementation of complete prohibition of liquor and the closure of Tasmac liquor shops.

In this situation, according to the statement issued by the president of Visika Thol Thirumavalavan, a protest will be held near Valluvar Kottam in Chennai at 4 pm today demanding the implementation of complete prohibition of alcohol in Tamil Nadu. It is seen as significant as it is a struggle by a party in coalition against the ruling government.

It is also noted that the opposition AIADMK will also hold a protest against the Kallakurichi incident today.
