The Chennai Meteorological Department had said that Tamil Nadu will receive heavy rain today due to the change in the speed of the western wind. In this situation, Chennai and its suburbs were scorching from the morning.
In this case, in the evening, suddenly there were dark clouds in the sky and there was heavy rain with a strong gale. Heavy rain lashed various areas including Koyambedu, Guindy, Vadapalani, Valasaravakkam, KK Nagar, Ashok Nagar, Velachery, Adyar, Thenampet, Egmore, Parimuna, Annanagar.
Similarly, areas like Tambaram, Pallavaram, Krombettai and Medavakkam were also lashed by heavy rain. The people were happy as the sudden rain in Chennai brought down the heat and made it cool. Meanwhile, the weather forecast has announced that heavy rain will fall in 34 districts including Chennai within a few hours.
