Chennai: Speaker Appavu ordered the suspension of the AIADMK MLAs for the entire session of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly demanding a discussion on the Kallakurichi poisoning case. It is said from the Speaker’s side that the AIADMK refused to hold a debate after question time.
AIADMK MLAs under the leadership of Opposition Leader Edappadi Palanichamy went on a fast at the Rajaratnam Maidan in Egmore, Chennai today, condemning the denial of permission to speak in the Legislative Assembly on the Kallakurichi issue and demanding a CBI probe into the Kallakurichi issue.
Speaking at this fast event, Opposition leader Edappadi Palanichamy made various criticisms about the ruling DMK party. In that, a good government is to talk to the opposition parties in the assembly and listen to their problems and fix them.
If I had been allowed to speak in the Assembly, if I had not stopped its live broadcast, I would have torn the ruling party to shreds. Government hospitals do not have stock of immediate medicines for the treatment of methanol addicts. It came in a rush from Mumbai after I gave the interview.
The wheel of governance keeps turning. AIADMK will come back to power. Chief Minister M.K.Stalin is speaking arrogantly in Mamata who is in power 40 to 40. The Chief Minister is yet to personally meet the victims of the Kallakurichi case, fearing questions.
Power rests with them. CBCID acting under state authority will not get justice. So the case should be investigated by the CBI. We were not allowed to speak in the assembly. So we are protesting in charity.
But even for this they impose 29 conditions and give permission only at 9 pm. Govt should take responsibility in Kallakurichi poisoning case. CBI should investigate. AIADMK General Secretary and Leader of Opposition Edappadi Palanichamy spoke during the hunger strike saying that our demand is to have the post of Chief Minister.
After this, as already announced, the AIADMK MLAs ended their fast by drinking juice at 5 pm.
