Lok Sabha elections were held across the country from April 19 to June 1 in seven phases. The votes were counted yesterday and the results were announced immediately. The BJP alliance won 292 seats, while the India alliance won 234 seats.
Even though the BJP alliance won 292 seats, it could not get a majority like last time. Only 240 blocks were obtained. This forced the BJP to form a coalition government with the support of the United Janata Dal and Telugu Desam parties.
At the same time efforts were also made to bring United Janata Dal and Telugu Desam parties to the India alliance. However, both the parties have given their full support to the formation of the NDA government. As a result BJP is going to form central government again.
In this exciting political environment, a consultative meeting of India’s alliance parties was held in Delhi today. Congress president Mallikarjuna Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, M.K.Stalin, Akhilesh Yadav and other leaders of India’s alliance parties participated in it. The next steps of the India Alliance were discussed in detail.
Addressing the gathering, Mallikarjuna Kharge said, “The Alliance of India welcomes all parties who respect the preamble of our Constitution and work with dedication. The victory in this election is a victory against Modi. For Modi personally, this is not only a political defeat, but also a blatant defeat, and they will use various tactics to cover it up,” he said.
Addressing a press conference after the meeting, Kharge said, “We thank the people for their overwhelming support to India Alliance. People’s verdict has given a befitting response to BJP and its politics of hatred and corruption.
It is a mandate to protect the Constitution of India, against inflation, unemployment and to preserve democracy. “The Indian alliance will continue to fight against the fascist regime of the Modi-led BJP,” he said.
He further said, “We will realize the people’s desire not to have a BJP government and take appropriate action at the appropriate time. This is our decision. We have fully accepted all these and will fulfill our promises to the people,” he said.
