Interim government sworn in in Bangladesh… Muhammad Yunus in charge!

Close friendship between India and Bangladesh continues. Indian Prime Minister Modi and Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina were working in harmony. When Prime Minister Modi took office for the third time after winning the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Sheikh Hasina attended the ceremony. Sheikh Hasina is currently seeking refuge in India.

Reservation controversy in Bangladesh

Its starting point was to give 30 percent reservation to the heirs of freedom fighters. The decree was withdrawn amid a flurry of protests and court cases. But the struggle did not end. Demands were made for the resignation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Due to this, the protest took a different direction and got caught in the hands of violence.

Sheikh Hasina resigns

More than 300 people died. Seeing the deteriorating situation, Sheikh Hasina resigned from her post. Later, he boarded an army helicopter and left Bangladesh. He entered the Indian territory straight away. He landed at the Ghaziabad Air Base adjacent to Delhi and sought India’s help. His plan is to take refuge in London.

Asylum in India

But there are some obstacles in the way. He has decided to stay in India till then. The Government of India has fully agreed to this. On the other hand, the army was involved in trying to set up an interim government in Bangladesh. The Army Chief said that all actions will be taken under their supervision. Then an important announcement was made.

Inauguration of Interim Government

A new government was said to be headed by Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus. Accordingly, the new government took office recently. Muhammad Yunus is 84 years old. It was the protesting student organizations that insisted that he should be brought to the leadership. He then returned to Dhaka from Paris. While talking to reporters at the airport, he said that whatever path our students have paved, we will walk on that path.
