Kia is testing the updated Carnival MPV model

South Korean carmaker Kia is testing the new updated Carnival MPV model on Indian roads.

Earlier, in June last year, the company had discontinued the sale of the previous generation Carnival in India.

Kia launched the Carnival model as a premium MPV in India in 2020. Before the discontinuation, the model was priced between Rs 30.99 lakh and Rs 35.49 lakh.

Kia is expected to launch the updated Carnival model later this year.

Kia has showcased the fourth generation Carnival model which is currently being tested in India at the 2023 Auto Expo in Delhi.

Compared to the previous Carnival model, the new Carnival model has been completely redesigned.

The front end gets a complete facelift with a tiger nose grille, vertically positioned LED headlamps and inverted L-shaped DRLs.

Likewise, Kia is going to give the updated Carnival MPV model a new design like a new bumper, connected LED taillight setup at the rear.

Kia is going to offer a dual-screen setup with a 12.3-inch infotainment display and a 12.3-inch driver’s display.

The new Carnival MPV model is expected to be launched in two seating configurations – 6-seater and 7-seater.

Further, it is expected to get panoramic sunroof, single pane moonroof for third row seat passengers, three zone automatic climate control, wireless charger, USB charging ports, ventilated powered seats, entertainment package for rear passengers and ADAS facilities.

Earlier when it was launched in India, the Carnival was offered with two engine options, a 2.2-litre diesel producing 200hp and 440Nm of torque and a 3.5-litre petrol producing 296hp. These engines were mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox.

The newly launched Carnival MPV model is likely to be offered in hybrid form with a 1.6-litre petrol engine paired with an electric motor.

However, the company has not yet shared which engine options Kia will offer in the new Carnival model, as well as its power and torque figures.

The new updated model is expected to be priced at an additional Rs 40 lakh or more over the outgoing model.
