“Knowledge”: An educational development program for plantation teachers begins

Vidhyawardana, an educational development program for horticulture teachers jointly conducted by the Ministry of Water Supply and Plantation Infrastructure Development, the Ministry of Education, and the Sri Lanka National Institute of Education, was launched.

The event was held today (05) at Alarimalika with the coordination of the Office of the High Commissioner of India, Ministry of Water Supply and Plant Infrastructure Development, Ministry of Education, and Sri Lanka National Institute of Education.

More than 2000 teachers from Madhya, Uva and Sabaragamuwa provinces participated in this initial event.

Assistant High Commissioner of India to Sri Lanka Kalanithi Satyanjal Pandey, Director General of National Education Nirvana Prof. Peerasad Setungal, Chairman of Perundo Manpower Development Fund Bharat Arulsamy, Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Ministry officials and many teachers who have visited from India participated in this event.

During the presidential elections, Minister Jeevan Thondaman did not participate in the event considering that the Election Commission has banned the participation of ministers in the events during the presidential elections.

That is why he had organized a media conference related to this event at the Plantation Infrastructure Development Ministry located in Kollupitiya.

Jeevan Thondaman, Minister of Water Supply and Plantation Infrastructure Development, attended the press conference.

19 teachers have visited from India with the aim of raising the educational standards of the students of the upland schools. Through them, these teachers have visited to provide training in the subjects of science, information technology, engineering and mathematics to the teachers teaching in the upland schools.

Also, for the first time, trainings are being held for teachers. It is worth noting that after that training will be held for three months for the students studying in the school.

Also, 30 percent of students in hilly schools are getting more education, we discussed this issue when India’s Minister of External Affairs Dr. Jaishankar visited Sri Lanka to improve the quality of education of students.
